Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about DMCA takedowns and content protection.

About DMCA Takedowns

What is a DMCA takedown?

A DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown is a legal tool used to force websites, search engines, and hosting companies to remove content that has been uploaded without the copyright owner’s permission. It is the primary legal mechanism used to combat online piracy and content theft in the United States and is recognized by most major international platforms.

How long does it take to remove stolen content?

The timeline varies depending on the platform hosting the content. Major social media networks and reputable hosting providers often comply within 24 to 48 hours. Offshore or non-compliant hosts may take longer, but we persistently follow up until the issue is resolved. We keep you updated throughout the entire process.

Do I need to register my copyright before filing a DMCA?

No. In the United States and many other jurisdictions, you automatically hold the copyright to your work the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible medium, such as taking a photo or recording a video. You do not need to register with the Copyright Office to file a DMCA notice, though registration does provide additional legal benefits if you ever pursue litigation.

What platforms do you cover?

We process takedowns across all major platforms, including Google Search, Bing, OnlyFans, Patreon, Twitter (X), Reddit, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and thousands of independent websites and adult tube sites. If the platform has a DMCA process, we can file against it.

About Our Services

What information do I need to provide to start a takedown?

To process your takedown, we need a link to your original content (proof of ownership), a link to the infringing content, and confirmation that you are the copyright holder. The more information you provide, the faster we can act.

What happens if the infringing party files a counter notice?

If a counter notice is filed, the platform will typically restore the content after 10 to 14 business days unless you initiate legal action. We will advise you on your options and help you respond appropriately. For complex counter notice situations, we recommend our Legal Support and Consultation service.

Is the Lifetime Shield really unlimited?

Yes. The Lifetime Shield package covers unlimited individual takedown requests for the lifetime of your account. There are no hidden caps, no monthly limits, and no renewal fees. It is a one time payment for ongoing protection.

Do you offer refunds?

We offer a full refund on individual takedown requests if we are unable to successfully remove the infringing content within 30 days. For the Lifetime Shield package, refunds are available within 14 days of purchase if no takedowns have been processed. Please contact support@dmca.blog for refund requests.
